Lucky

The past few weeks I have felt like the luckiest girl. All summer I was stressing out about grad school apps, what happens if I don't get in, and what the future holds. What did it get me? Grey hairs! Yes, that's right, I have a few of them. So I decided I was done with the stress. It does not do me any good, wears me out, and takes my focus away from all of the good things I have going. This has really helped me live in the moment and even though I should hear about my applications any day now, I'm less stressed and just enjoying all the great things I have in life right now.

Things that are making me incredibly happy:

1. Pug falling asleep in the cutest positions possible  2. Finding a perfect climbing tree 3. Elliott taking Mollie to the dog park while we were out of town  4. Cupcakes from Sweet Tooth Fairy (nutella crepe and pumpkin chocolate with cream cheese frosting) 5. Pictures of Mollie by Elliott 6. Fall colors
Although I have no idea where we'll be in a year, I'm happy I live in a beautiful city where I get to do all the things I love, I'm happy ski season is just around the corner, I'm happy I have such a great family, I'm grateful for my health, I'm really grateful I have a job, and I love watching favorite my t.v. shows with Elliott.

We Heart Fall

Last night my family had our anual Harvest Fest. We go and buy ingredients from the farmers market on Saturday morning for the meal. Then aunts/uncles/cousins/grandmas/brothers/sisters come over to my parents house for dinner. The menu:
Minestroni Soup with fresh vegetables (tomatos, carrots, grean beans, potatos, garbanzo beans, and more)
Garden Salad (cucumbers, tomatos, onions, homemade poppysead dressing)
Bread
Homemade peach pie (peaches from Farmers Market...so delicious)
Peach cobbler

We got in the hot tub and enjoyed the falling temperature. I all of the sudden got really excited for the cold temperatures coming our way and just might stop by the grocery store for wassel and a pumpkin candle.

Our garden is spitting out tomatoes like crazy so I've been eating pesto and tomato sandwiches like a mad woman. Sadly, the garden never produced any serious cucumbers or squash and the peppers are iffy. But we did get a lot of onions, lettuce, two strawberries, tomatoes and basil. Not bad for a first attempt. One day we'll have a big garden, and maybe even a green house too:

10.10.10

This is the view from our front door. Today is a perfect fall day with bright blue skies and nippy fall temperatures. Fall is here to stay and we couldn't be happier. we both love 'jacket weather'.

This next week is our fall break which means we have a lot more free time to enjoy the weather. Salt Lake is gorgeous, especially at this time of the year. We love having four seasons. One of the best things about SL are the canyons. In the fall you can take a drive or a hike and look at all the leaves changing: bright yellow, orange, red, and lime green. In the winter, skiing and snowshoeing is only a 20 minute drive up the canyons.  In the spring you can go mountain biking, hiking, and watch all the mountain flowers come back. Summer is perfect for rock climbing, campfires, and picnics. Sometimes it's so easy to take advantage of all of the things to do here and that they are so close.

So today, since it would be a crime to stay inside all day, we went on a drive and hike up Emigration canyon. Even though many of the trees have already lost their leaves, it was still full of color (pictures to come).
