Words

I just got the GRE vocab app which I greatly need considering I scored lower than average on the verbal section of the test. This was not a surprise to me. I've never had an extremely large vocabulary and I didn't spend most of my prep time studying vocab words. This app is great- it runs you through endless words. If you know it, you can check it off and if you don't, you can flip it over for the definition. The word I just got tested on was attenuate (which means to weaken or reduce; to make thinner). How they used it in a sentence? Sheila's desire for Dave attenuated after she saw his third nipple.

Yesterday I went to dinner with a friend at Zupas. I had a box of chocolate cherry sticks that had fallen out to the bottom of my purse. I threw them all on the tray to be thrown out, mostly because they were now covered with crumbs, hair, and whatever else ends up at the bottom of a purse. When the waiter came to clear our plates, he ate one. Then he took the whole box. Then he came back three times to tell us how good they were and that the dishwasher had eaten most of them. It was a little weird, and gross.

A few nights ago Elliott sat up in bed (after he had fallen asleep), and started rummaging around in the covers. When I asked him what he was doing he replied, "I'm looking for the disc."

Me: What disc?
Elliott: What?

And then he went straight back to sleep.

This is promising. Maybe now instead of just having conversations in his sleep he will now act things out. That would be very entertaining.

Last weekend it snowed, we made pizza with roasted red peppers (+ pepperoni on Elliott's half), and went to my brother Nick's basketball game followed by lunch at Great Harvest.

Have you ever seen the HBO series John Adams? Paul Giamatti plays John Adams and Laura Linney plays his wife. We're almost done watching and have loved it. It's really cool to see such a great reenactment of how our country came to be. Anyway, we highly recommend it.
